Dental bridge types and procedure at Morsia Dental Antalya

A dental bridge is one of the most established solutions for replacing missing teeth. It’s been used in dentistry for decades — and with modern ceramic materials, today’s bridges are stronger, more natural-looking, and longer-lasting than anything available even ten years ago. Antalya has become a popular destination for bridge work among international patients because the cost is a fraction of what clinics in Germany or the UK charge, with no compromise on material quality.

At Morsia Dental, we fit bridges for patients from across Europe who want a durable, permanent fix for missing teeth — often combined with implants or crowns during a single visit.

What Types of Dental Bridges Exist?

There are three main types, and the right one depends on your specific situation:

Traditional bridge is the most common. Two crowns are placed on the teeth either side of the gap (abutment teeth), with a false tooth (pontic) suspended between them. This works best when the neighbouring teeth already need crowns or have large fillings.

Cantilever bridge anchors to just one abutment tooth instead of two. It’s used when there’s only one tooth adjacent to the gap — for example, at the back of the mouth. It handles less biting force than a traditional bridge, so it’s best suited for front teeth or low-stress areas.

Implant-supported bridge uses dental implants as anchors instead of natural teeth. This is the strongest option and avoids preparing healthy neighbouring teeth. We often recommend it for patients missing three or more consecutive teeth, where a traditional bridge would place too much stress on the abutments.

Bridge vs Implant: Which Should You Choose?

Patients from Germany and the UK often ask: “Should I get a bridge or an implant?” The honest answer depends on your situation.

At Morsia Dental, we recommend whatever makes clinical sense for your case — not the most expensive option. When adjacent teeth already need crowns, a bridge is often the smart choice. When they’re perfectly healthy, an implant protects them better long-term.

What Does the Bridge Process Look Like?

  1. Consultation and planning: Clinical examination, X-rays, discussion of material and bridge type
  2. Tooth preparation: Abutment teeth shaped to receive crowns under local anaesthetic
  3. Digital impression: 3D scan sent to our in-house laboratory
  4. Temporary bridge: Fitted while your permanent bridge is being made (2–3 days)
  5. Permanent bridge fitting: Tried in, adjusted for bite and colour, cemented

For international patients, the full process — preparation to final cementation — takes 4–5 days.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a dental bridge last?

A well-maintained zirconia or E-Max bridge typically lasts 10–15 years or longer. The main factor is hygiene — keeping the area under the pontic clean with floss threaders or interdental brushes.

Does having a bridge fitted hurt?

The procedure is done under local anaesthetic — you’ll feel no pain during treatment. Some sensitivity in the days after preparation is normal and settles within a week.

Can I eat normally with a bridge?

Yes. A cemented permanent bridge is fully fixed. You eat all normal foods. We suggest avoiding extremely hard items (ice, bones) with any ceramic restoration, but that applies to natural teeth too.

Can a bridge be done in one trip to Antalya?

Yes. Most bridge cases are completed in 4–5 days. Preparation on day 1–2, temporary bridge fitted, permanent bridge delivered on day 4–5.

What if I’m missing several teeth in a row?

Up to 3 consecutive missing teeth can generally be bridged. For larger gaps, an implant-supported bridge or partial denture may work better — we assess this on a case-by-case basis.
